Bolton 3-2 TottenhamBolton Wanderers held off a determined comeback by Tottenham Hotspur to register their first win in six matches on Saturday. It was a deserved victory for Bolton who were the better of the two sides, creating chances early in the match. Ariza Makulula, Kevin Davies and Mark Davies went close to breaking the deadlock for Bolton but were unable to hit the back of the net. The hosts finally took the lead in the 31st minute when Mark Davies curled in a free kick and Puygrenier headed home from close range to score his first goal since moving from Zenit St Petersburg. Tottenham manager Harry Redknapp made two changes at half time, brining on Bent and Jermain Jenas in place of Luka Modric and Didier Zokora. However it was Bolton who scored once again with Davies latching on to a flick on by Gary Cahill before slotting it past Carlo Cudicini. Just when it looked as if Bolton were cruising to a comfortable victory, Bent put Tottenham back in the match by first converting Pascal Chimbonda's cross to reduce the deficit and then latching on to Wilson Palacios' rebounded shot to pull Spurs back on level terms. However it was not enough as Bolton managed to put their noses back in front with Davies heading home Matt Taylor's corner to collect all three points for his side.
