Bolton 2-2 Manchester UnitedKnight 6 Nani 23 Petrov 67 Owen 74 Manchester United were held to their third draw in three away EPL games after coming from behind twice in a pulsating encounter against near-neighbours Bolton. The Trotters took an early lead when centre-half Zak Knight cleverly backheeled Martin Petrov’s corner into the net from the edge of the six-yard box. Wanderers were grateful to goalkeeper Jussi Jaaskelainen, who saved early efforts from Ryan Giggs and Darren Fletcher. Opposite number Edwin Van der Sar matched him with an athletic save from Kevin Davies’ header, which narrowly evaded Johan Elmander. But United were level on 23 minutes when Nani picked the ball up in the centre-circle and ran unchallenged past three defenders before drilling a low right-foot shot past Jaaskelainen’s right hand. United were livelier after Wayne Rooney was substituted on the hour, Dimitar Berbatov’s right-foot drive testing Jaaskelainen two minutes later. However, Bolton’s own Bulgarian, Petrov, restored the Trotters’ lead on 67 minutes when his right-foot shot from Elmander’s pass was deflected in off Fletcher. Elmander should have made it 3-1 moments later but fired over from 15 yards. And on 74 minutes, United substitute Michael Owen equalised with his first touch, a glancing header past Jaaskelainen from Nani’s right-wing free-kick.
