Bolton 0-1 EvertonEverton built on their morale boosting draw against Manchester United by registering their first win in six matches as they secured a hard fought win against Bolton on Wednesday.
Marouane Fellaini once again came to the Toffees' rescue, this time scoring the winning goal late in injury time to help Everton to only their third win of the season. Bolton's best chance of the match fell to Kevin Davies but Joseph Yobo was alert to the danger and kept out the shot.
It was a game of very few chances with neither side managing to create any real chances in the first half. Both Jussi Jaskalaainen and Tim Howard spent a comfortable time in the first half with hardly any save to make.
Bolton tried to step up the tempo in the second half but though they had a majority of the possession, the hosts failed to make it count in the final third of the pitch. Matt Taylor failed to connect his shot inside the Everton penalty area while Gretar Steinsson's selfish streak got the better of him as he looked to take on a shot on target though he had four unmarked team mates close to the target.
Just when it looked like the game was sliding towards a boring draw, Fellaini won the game for Everton by converting Stephen Pienaar's cross from close range to score his second goal in as many matches to help his side to their first win in six matches.
