Chelsea kept their faint EPL title defence alive with the help of a second-half brace by Frank Lampard at strugglers Blackpool.

Carlo Ancelotti’s men were not at their best. And they only took control when the injured Didier Drogba was replaced by Salomon Kalou shortly after half-time.

Blackpool keeper Richard Kingson also suffered a knock and Chelsea were 3-0 up by the time he was replaced.

Chelsea took the lead with the game’s first opening, John Terry heading home Lampard’s 20th-minute corner from the right.

Blackpool nearly equalised on 33 minutes when Jason Puncheon beat two defenders and fired a low, left-foot drive which Chelsea keeper Petr Cech could only parry onto his left-hand post.

Kingson athletically turned aside Ramires’ 25-yard left-foot drive in first-half stoppage time. (140)

However, Chelsea doubled their advantage on 62 minutes, Frank Lampard’s penalty sending Kingson the wrong way after Kalou was brought sown in the box by Ian Evatt.

It was 3-0 four minutes later, Lampard converting Kalou’s through-ball from the edge of the area.

Blackpool pulled a goal back on 86 minutes through Puncheon’s immaculate left-foot finish across Cech. And they created chances either side of the goal, but were unable to take any of them.
