Blackburn Rovers 1-1 Manchester UnitedManchester United suffered a minor setback in their quest for back to back league title wins as they were held to a 1-1 draw by Blackburn Rovers on Saturday.
Blackburn took a shock lead through Roque Santa Cruz midway through the first half as United struggled to convert the numerous chances that came their way. With time running out Carlos Tevez grabbed a vital equalizer two minutes from full time to help United maintain a three point lead over Chelsea.
United were looking shaky at the back right from the kick off as Blackburn almost took the lead in the 6th minute only for Tomasz Kuszczak to deny Jason Roberts from point-blank range. The hosts took the lead in the 21st minute when the ever reliable Vidic and Rio Ferdinand failed to clear Morten Gamst Pedersen's throw, allowing Santa Cruz to score his 20th goal of the season.
Kuszczak pulled off a great save to deny David Bentley as Blackburn pressed forward in search of the second goal. United's first real chance of the half fell to Ronaldo three minutes before half time when his header was saved by Brad Friedel.
United stepped up the pressure in the second half and almost equalized in the 63rd minute through Ronaldo who saw his drive smash against the bar. Rooney, Ronaldo and Tevez all went close to getting the equalizer but hosts hung on as United laid siege on the Blackburn goal.
