Blackburn Rovers 0-2 Manchester UnitedManchester United notched up a second straight league win for the first time this season as they secured a comfortable 2-0 victory against Blackburn Rovers on Saturday.
Once again there was a hint of controversy in United's first goal as Wes Brown put the visitors in the lead midway through the first half before Wayne Rooney secured all three points for the defending champions by doubling the lead four minutes past the hour mark.
After a disappointing start to the season, United were slowly returning back to form after having bolstered their confidence with a convincing 3-0 win over Aalborg BK in the Champions League.
And it was the defending champions that went close to scoring an early goal when Darren Fletcher raced forward to meet Dimitar Berbatov's through ball but was unable to hit the target. The Bulgarian international was pulling the strings for United as he found Ryan Giggs with a great square pass but the Welsh midfielder's shot was saved brilliantly by Jason Brown.
However Brown was at fault for United's first goal a minute later from the corner as he was easily blocked from reaching the ball by Nemanja Vidic, allowing Wes Brown to head home at the far post.
Rooney had a great chance to double the lead before half time but was unable to convert from a tight angle with Brown quick off his blocks to save his shot. Cristiano Ronaldo had a couple of chances to put the result beyond Blackburn's reach but was wasteful with his efforts.
The visitors doubled the lead in the 64th minute when Ronaldo found himself in possession on the right flank, raced past Martin Olsson and crossed the ball for Rooney who coolly slotted the ball past Brown to score his second league goal in as many matches.
