Aston Villa 2-2 Manchester United Young (pen) 72 Macheda 81
Albrighton 76 Vidic 85 Four goals in thirteen late minutes saw Manchester United fall two goals behind yet comeback to grab a point in a stunning finish. United remain unbeaten, but only just, and have now drawn more EPL games than they have won. And they were inches from defeat at Villa Park, as the hosts went two-up with fourteen minutes left, having twice struck the woodwork. United’s Dimitar Berbatov had the best chance of a mundane first-half, his 17th minute left-foot shot flying wide. But Aston Villa were a constant threat after the break…on the break. Marc Albrighton headed badly wide from Stuart Downing’s left-wing cross on 54 minutes. James Collins smacked a header against the post from the same source 13 minutes later. And moments after, Gabriel Agbonlahor’s right-foot shot hit the post. Villa finally broke the deadlock with Ashley Young’s emphatic 72nd-minute penalty after Young himself was bundled over by Wes Brown. And Albrighton finished off a wonderful pitch-length break, side-footing home from close range four minutes later. United’s comeback began on 81 minutes with substitute Federico Macheda’s 20-yard piledriver from Darren Fletcher’s backheel. And they equalised four minutes later, Nemanja Vidic stooping to head home Nani’s far-post cross from the left.
