Aston Villa 2-2 Arsenal

A brilliant come back from Aston Villa in the second half saw them pull from two goals down to secure a hard fought 2-2 draw against Arsenal on Friday.

It was a deserved point for Villa who dominated the chances in the first half with Steve Sidwell going close to breaking the deadlock early in the game when his header smashed against the post. Manuel Almunia pulled off a great save to deny Luke Young whose shot took a deflection off Mikel Silvestre enroute to the target.

With just five minutes remaining in the half, Arsenal took the lead completely against the run of play when Denilson snatched the ball from Nigel Reo-Coker before slotting the ball past Brad Friedel to put his side in front.

The visitors doubled the lead four minutes after the break as Diaby played a delightful one-two with Emmanuel Eboue before smashing the ball to give his side some breathing space. Villa settled down to rediscover their fluency from the first half and were rewarded in the 65th minute when Barry reduced the lead from the penalty spot after Agbonlahor was fouled by Gallas.

Just when it looked as if Arsenal had done enough to hang on to their slender lead, Knight snatched a point by scoring an equalizer in the injury time to keep Villa in the top four of the table.
