Arsenal cruised to an FA Cup quarter-final meeting at EPL leaders Manchester United with an assured fifth round replay victor over League One Leyton Orient. And the night was capped by a hat-trick from Danish striker Nicklas Bendtner. The Gunners took the lead on seven minutes, Moroccan striker Marouane Chamakh side-footing home Tomas Rosicky’s right-wing cutback from eight yards. Bendtner doubled their advantage on the half-hour mark with a looping header from Kieron Gibbs’ left-wing cross. And the Dane killed off the tie two minutes before half-time, cutting in from the left and curling an exquisite right-foot shot past Orient keeper Jamie Jones’ outstretched left hand. Orient’s Alex Revell found the side-netting from Charlie Daniels cross and Ben Chorley having a fierce drive blocked in the first half. But Arsenal made it 4-0 on 62 minutes when Revell felled Gibbs in the penalty area and Bendtner crashed home the resultant spot kick. Arsenal’s fifth arrived thirteen minutes later when Emmanuel Eboue’s square ball across the box found Gael Clichy who drilled it home left-footed. Orient’s Dean Cox was denied a superb consolation when Gunners keeper Manuel Almunia saved his left-foot shot after a rune which took Cox past three defenders.
