Arsenal 3-1 Manchester CityArsenal went two points clear at the top of the Premiership table with a comfortable victory over Manchester City on Saturday.
With Man City content to play out for a draw, the Gunners dominated right from the kick off and took the lead in the 9th minute through Emmanuel Adebayor. Eduardo Da Silva doubled the lead with an acrobatic effort in the 26th minute. Man City pulled one back two minutes later through Gelson Fernandes but Adebayor put the result beyond doubt by scoring his second of the night two minutes before full time.
City had a great chance to take a shock lead in the opening minutes of the match when Dietmar Hamann played in a great ball for Stephen Ireland but the midfielder was slow to react, allowing Jens Lehmann to claim the ball.
However it was not long before the Gunners found their rhythm and took the lead in the 9th minute when Bacary Sagna found Adebayor with a perfect cross and the Togo striker made no mistake in scoring his 18th goal of the season.
Arsenal doubled the lead in the 26th minute when Eduardo was the first to reach Adebayor's cross and the Croatian international chested the ball before smashing it with an acrobatic effort past a helpless Joe Hart.
City were handed a lifeline two minutes later when Corluka snatched the ball from Clichy and Fernandes was left with a simple finish from Corkula's cross. The visitors tried to build on the goal but it was Arsenal who came twice to scoring a goal but were unable to hit the target.
