Arsenal 3-0 VillarrealArsenal romped through to the semi finals of the Champions League with a comfortable 3-0 win over Villarreal in their second leg clash on Wednesday. Having secured a positive result away in Spain, Arsenal started the game confidently as Villarreal struggled to contain a rampant Theo Walcott on the right flank. And it was the 20-year old who broke the deadlock early in the 10th minute when he latched on to a flick on by Cesc Fabregas before chipping the ball over an onrushing Diego Lopez to put his side in the lead. Needing to score twice to progress to the next round, Villarreal tried to force the issue but were unable to find a way past the Arsenal defense in the first half. The Gunners took the foot off the pedal at the start of the second half but were the dominant team as Villarreal struggled to string passes together. Arsenal scored a timely second in the 60th minute when Robin Van Persie made a driving run past the Villarreal defense before passing the ball for Emmanuel Adebayor who was left with a simple finish. The Dutch striker deservedly got his goal nine minutes later when Diego Godin fouled Walcott inside the area and Van Persie made no mistake from the penalty spot to wrap up his side's qualification to the next round.
