Arsenal 1-2 Hull City

Hull City registered a famous victory at the Emirates Stadium as they staged a come from behind victory to beat Arsenal 2-1 in their Premiership meeting on Saturday.

It was a disappointing performance by Arsenal who were expected to secure a comfortable victory and after being frustrated in the first half looked on course to collect all three points when they took the lead five minutes into the second half thanks to an own goal by Paul McShane. But Hull fought back to equalize through a brilliant goal from Geovanni before Daniel Cousin wrapped up the points by scoring the winner in the 66th minute.

It was a brilliant performance from Hull that takes them to sixth in the league table with fans hopeful that their side will be able to maintain their good form and avoid relegation come the end of the season. The visitors started the match high on confidence following their 2-2 draw against Everton last weekend but were pegged back in their own half for the first 30 minutes as Arsenal dominated the possession.

Adebayor looked to have put Arsenal in lead in the 15th minute when he headed home past Boaz Myhill but his effort was ruled out with referee already having blown the whistle for a foul on McShane. As expected the hosts dominated the possession but were struggling to create chances and matters were not helped by a defensively aware Hull side that caught the Arsenal attackers in offside positions three times in the first half.

The Gunners finally took the lead in the 50th minute when Cesc Fabregas' shot took a deflection off McShane and past Myhill. Adebayor and Robin Van Persie both had great chances to double the lead but were unable to hit the target. Hull made them pay for the missed chances in the 62nd minute when Geovanni slammed home a brilliant shot from outside the area past Manuel Almunia to pull the visitors back on level terms.

It got even better for Hull four minutes later when Cousin rose high to head home Dawson's corner to put the visitors in the lead. Arsenal stepped up the pressure late in the game but Hull hung on to claim their third win of the season, leaving Arsene Wenger fuming on the sidelines.
