Arsenal 1-1 Liverpool

Arsenal’s EPL title dreams all-but-evaporated in impossibly dramatic circumstances.
There was a minimum of eight minutes stoppage-time after a second-half punctuated by injuries and substitutions.
And Arsenal broke the deadlock in the eighth of those minutes, Robin Van Persie joyfully sending Liverpool keeper Pepe Reina the wrong way from the penalty spot after Cesc Fabregas was upended in the area by Jay Spearing.
But in the extra stoppage time allowed for Arsenal’s understandably raucous celebrations, Liverpool were awarded a free-kick on the edge of the box.
Luis Suarez’s kick was deflected skyward by the defensive wall and most spectators expected referee Andre Marriner to blow the full-time whistle with the ball in the air.
But in the extra few seconds Liverpool’s Lucas was bundled over in the box by Emanuel Eboue and, in the 102nd minute, Dirk Kuyt rifled home the resultant spot-kick.
Arsenal created the clearest chances in ‘normal’ time. Laurent Koscielny’s 15th-minute header struck the Liverpool crossbar. While Reina made a vital save from Van Persie on 85 minutes.
Suarez had Liverpool’s best efforts, with Arsenal keeper Wojciech Szczesny making a fine 76th-minute save from the Uruguayan international.
But stoppage time produced the drama, and heartache for Arsenal.
