Andorra 0-6 CroatiaCroatia maintained its position at the top of the table with a 6-0 thrashing of Andorra in their Euro 2008 qualifying match on Wednesday.
Croatia had five different scorers as they completely overwhelmed an Andorra team that is yet to register a point in the Euro 2008 qualifying campaign, succumbing to 9 straight defeats. Mladen Petric scored two while Darijo Srna, Niko Kranjcar, Eduardo da Silva and Ivan Rakitic bagged one each as Croatia scored six goals in space of 30 minutes.
After a poor start to the first half, Croatia took the lead in the 34th minute when Srna stepped up to take a free kick and his shot deflected off the wall before looping over keeper Koldo Alvarez's head and into the goal.
Floodgates had opened for Slaven Bilić's side as four minutes later, Petric doubled the lead for the visitors with a curling free kick and a minute before half time scored his second of the match with an angled drive from 12 yards out.
There was no respite for Andorra in the second half as Croatia pressed forward for the kill and were rewarded four minutes into the second half Kranjcar was the first to reach Jerko Leko's cross and was left with a simple finish from nine yards out.
Eduardo da Silva made it 5-0 6 minutes later when he was the first to reach the ball after Alvarez had blocked the initial attempt by Kranjcar. Croatia added the sixth in the 64th minute, again from a free kick when Petric's free kick was blocked by Alvarez and Ivan Rakitic was first to reach the ball.
Rakitic, Kranjcar and substitute Bosko Balaban had chances towards the end of the match to heap further humiliation on Andorra but all failed to convert their chances. Croatia will have booked their place in the Euro 2008 finals if they win against Israel on October 13 and Russia fail to win against England on October 19.
