West Ham United boss Gianfranco Zola has been impressed by the recent form of Diego Tristan and has indicated that the Spaniard is doing a fair job of making a persuasive case for a fresh deal.

 

The striker joined the Hammers during the summer and is enjoying his football. Indeed, it is that rather than seeking a new contracts that Zola believes is the driving force behind his recent form. "I think he is playing for his future, but more than that I would say he is playing because he is enjoying it” said the Italian, "I haven't spoken to him but I believe he wants to stay."

Tristan lacked conditioning when he joined although his quality was not in question. Zola remains convinced that he has the potential to be one of the deadliest forwards in Europe with fitness and form on his side. "He just lost a little bit of it in the last few years but he is getting back very, very quickly and in the last few games he has been outstanding.”
