Zamora Gets World Cup BackingThe campaign supporting Fulham striker Bobby Zamora to be included as a late surprise in Fabio Capello’s squad for the World Cup has received more backing. ![]() The latest to throw his weight behind Zamora is none other than former Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur forward Teddy Sheringham who represented his country in addition to playing in United’s 1999 treble winning side. He said "If you had said Zamora for England three months ago everyone would have laughed. I think he is an exceptional player. He has got everything a centre-forward can have and scores goals as well. He leads the line very well, is decent in the air, scores with both feet, is very aware and knows his position and I wouldn‘t be adverse to throwing him in. He wouldn’t find it a problem." His comments come on the back of praise from his team mates Brede Hangeland and Zoltan Gera. Hangeland said "Bobby is brilliant and if I played against England I’d be worried if he was lining up against me. Everything he touches at the moment seems to turn to gold." Gera also recently backed Zamora’s international credentials saying "I think Mr Capello wants to find a player to make a good partnership with Rooney. And I can imagine Bobby playing with Rooney because he is not just a good target player, he can score goals and he can run behind defenders."
