Zaki Out For Season

Wigan’s Egyptian striker Amr Zaki may have played his last game for the club after sustaining what appears to been a serious injury at the weekend.

The 26-year old last a little over 10 minutes on the field during the defeat to rock-bottom West Bromich Albion before being carried from the field on a stretcher. His loan spell is due to end in the summer and after failing to make a significant impact at the JJB it is looking increasingly likely that he will be heading back to Zamalek. Manager Steve Bruce said “Zaki looks to have picked up a very serious knee injury. We will know more once the x-rays and scans have taken place but it doesn’t look good.”

Bruce also expressed his frustration with his strike force after the loss at the Hawthorns. "I think that is the third time in a row now their goalkeeper was man of the match. Is it bad attacking or sloppiness in front of goal?" he said. "We've played the last three games like that, although not so much in the first half when we played some excellent stuff and should have been out of sight. But if you don't take the chances at this level then ultimately you get punished."
