In what comes across as the best piece of business so far in the transfer market, Middlesbrough have snapped up England full back Luke Young for a measly sum of 2.5 million pounds from Championship side Charlton Athletic. Young was an integral part of the Addicks side which went down last season and wanted a move to the top flight to boost his England prospects. Boro had problems in defence last season and its young back line was exposed terribly against strong opposition.

The former Charlton captain has signed a four year deal at the Riverside. Meanwhile, Boro hit man Yakubu is again on the Manchester City radar. After missing out on Nery Castillo, Manchester City are looking to pounce on the African goal machine in the near future.
