Wolves: Don’t Mention The “T” Word.Wolves captain Karl Henry has apologised for the tackle which led to his 11th-minute departure from the Wanderers’ 2-0 defeat at Wigan Athletic last Saturday. Manager Mick McCarthy had already accepted that Henry’s challenge on Jordi Gomez, which sent the Wigan midfielder flying through the air, was a red card offence. And Henry, who has courted controversy with his combative displays in previous matches this season, said: “Having watched it again, I can see that it looks horrific. ![]() “I realise that it was a deserved red card. I have already apologised to the manager and the boys, but I’d also like to apologise to the supporters.” Wolves defended stoutly with ten men for so long. But ultimately that wasn’t enough to avoid their fourth straight EPL defeat. There has been mixed injury news from Molineux this week. Right-back Roland Zubar looks set to be out for over a month as he has to undergo surgery on his injured ankle, which has restricted him to one EPL substitute appearance this season. However, Ireland international midfielder Stephen Hunt revealed that he hopes to be available for Wolves’ home game against West Ham on October 16th, their first EPL fixture after the international break. Hunt has yet to debut for Wolves since his summer signing from Hull City, due to a broken foot. But he said earlier this week: “The physios say I’m bang on track. I won’t be too far away from West Ham and definitely for Chelsea the week after.” Tags: Wolves, Karl Henry, Mick McCarthy, EPL, Molineux, Stephen Hunt Posted: |
