Wolves Won’t Chew Over Defeat Says DoyleWolverhampton Wanderers striker Kevin Doyle shrugged off the disappointment of losing to a Kevin Phillips brace against Birmingham City. Doyle opened the scoring at St Andrew’s only to see veteran Phillips come off the bench to grab all three points for City. However, he is certain that it will not dent Wolves chances of avoiding the drop. ![]() With Hull City winning against Manchester City, the pressure was heaped upon Wolves but Doyle remains optimistic. “Hull’s result was unexpected, but hopefully we can do a similar thing against Tottenham at home. It’s going to be tit-for-tat for the rest of the season.” On the derby defeat he added “We’re just disappointed because we should have locked it up. It’s hard not to dwell on things like that.” Manager Mick McCarthy also talked up his teams survival chances although he admits many will have already condemned them to the Championship next season. “We’ve been written off before – I know it will happen but I can’t do anything about it. But it’s still very tight, so if we play like we did yesterday and against Hull and Liverpool, it would be remiss of anyone to write us off. We have got a chance.” Tags: Kevin Doyle, Wolves, Mick McCarthy Posted: 9th February 2010 |
