West Ham Want To Hold On To Ljungberg

Freddie Ljungberg

West Ham United officials have rubbished reports that winger Freddie Ljungberg will leave the club at the end of the season.

It was suggested that West Ham were looking to decrease the high wages within the club and with Ljungberg being one of the highest earners at the club he was one of the players reportedly on his way out.

But chief executive of West Ham Scott Duxbury has revealed that West Ham want to keep Ljungberg and the Swede is keen to stay.

Duxbury said that Freddie is not leaving the club. He added that the club value Ljungberg as a key player and one who can help us get into Europe.

Duxbury did make it clear that there will be several players leaving the club over the summer but expects Ljungberg to be at the club next season.

Duxbury admitted that the squad at the minute is far too big, but we’ll only get rid of players who aren’t playing regularly and aren’t pushing for a first team spot.
