Wenger Gamble Starts To Pay Off

Arsene Wenger has refused to pay large transfer fees for new players. This has been seen as a huge gamble by players, fans and neutrals alike. However, Arsenal have in the early days of the season reaped the rewards of a selective transfer strategy. Former Arsenal chairman David Dein claimed that in order to remain competitive Arsenal require huge investment. In contradiction to this claim Wenger has continued his frugal approach saving the coffers at the Emirates.

Wenger continues to have belief in his young squad a belief which is starting to pay off as they come of age. They climbed to second after seeing off Portsmouth in the English Premier League. The starting line up for Arsenal in the game was assembled for under £30 million something which is virtually unheard of in the Premier League. Whilst Arsenal have not been spending big money they are a side that has gelled. Many of the players have been playing together for a few years and know the ins and outs of each team mates play. Arsenal have acquired 10 points from 12 so far and look to continue on their success. You can continue to watch the fortunes of Arsenal live inside our member’s area.
