Wenger Dreads Annual Shuffle
Arsene Wenger is preparing to preside over the annual summer shuffle at Arsenal. The Gunners finished fourth in the EPL table ending earlier hopes and finishing a 6th season without silverware for the London club. Arsene Wenger will be looking to strengthen his side over the summer transfer period but also needs to guard the exit door with concerns over Nasri and Clichy.
Liverpool have expressed an interest in 25 year old left back Clichy and his departure seems imminent. Clichy is one of Arsenal's longest serving players after signing in 2003. Wenger will be looking to Kieran Gibbs as a replacement.
23 year old attacking midfielder Samir Nasri only has 1 year left on his contract. The powers that be at Arsenal have stressed that they are open to negotiate a new deal for Nasri who signed from Marsille in 2008. However, the youngster has publically stated his uncertainty over the competitive future of the club while media speculation links him with a move to champions Manchester United.
Arsene Wenger has so far signed defender Carl Jenkinson from Charlton and is looking to pick up Southampton winger Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain but both targets are not of significant caliber to appease fans who are hopeful of a marquis signing over the summer months.
