Venky’s Keep Faith With KeanBlackburn Rovers’ owners Venky’s have denied that manager Steve Kean’s job is under pressure after a dismal run of results plunged Rovers into the increasingly-complicated and populated EPL relegation battle. Last Saturday’s unlucky 3-2 defeat at Fulham made it one (goalless) draw and four defeats in Rovers’ last five EPL encounters, far from the entertaining, winning football so publicly sought by the controlling Rao family when they took over last October. But Venky’s chairperson, Arunadha Desai, was forced to deny rumours that Kean had been summoned to an emergency summit meeting in London, with his future reportedly up for discussion. In January, Kean was given a contract until June 2013 and Venky’s reportedly declared the 43-year-old to be ‘unsackable.’ Desai said at the weekend: “There is no question of the manager being changed. I don’t know the source of these rumours She added: “He will continue in his present position.” And a club statement issued last Monday described the rumours as “false and misleading.” Blackburn are just one point above the EPL drop zone in 14th-place, with that one point separating six struggling teams with similar goal differences. Hey lost at Fulham to a controversial 89th-minute penalty given by recently under-fire referee Mark Clattenburg. And Kean commented: “We showed determination and togetherness but at the end we (lost to) a big decision which hasn’t gone our way.” Rovers are without a fixture this coming weekend ahead of the 19th March crunch Lancashire derby at Ewood Park against fellow strugglers Blackpool.
