Venezuela v Uruguay

Hosts Venezuela will be looking at its first quarterfinals appearance in over 40 years when it faces Uruguay in its final group match of the Copa America on Tuesday.

Venezuela won its first match since 1967 when it defeated Peru 2-0 to take its points tally to 4. The hosts need just a draw to assure its place in the next round regardless of the result in the match between Bolivia and Peru.

Venezuela has been impressive in this campaign, twice taking the lead against Bolivia in the first match, but finally had to be satisfied with a draw. But the hosts went one better against Peru on Saturday, with goals from Alejandro Cichero and Daniel Arismendi in the second half enough for the team to claim its second win ever in the tournament.

Meanwhile Uruguay will be looking to live up to its pre-tournament favorites tag, with the team making it at least to the semifinals on previous three occasions. Uruguay's bid for an unprecedented 15th Copa America title looked to have vanished when it lost out to Peru in the opening match of the campaign.

But a comeback in its second match, which saw it defeat Bolivia 1-0, has given the team a great chance to qualify for the quarter finals. A victory against the hosts will take its tally to 6 points and see it qualify for the next round.
