UEFA decide on quarter final violence

UEFA have concluded their investigation into the UEFA Champions League quarter final clash between Roma and Manchester United in Italy. They have decided to fine Roma £31,000, while Manchester United received a £14,500 penalty for their part in the violence. Fans of both clubs threw missiles at each other in the first leg of the quarter final fixture. Supporters also clashed with the Italian police who were later vilified for their behavior and heavy handed response towards United fans. Both teams will have 3 days to appeal UEFA’s decision but given that the amounts in question are less than pocket money for the clubs acceptance is almost a surety.
