Two Dutch players named in UEFA Euro 2008 Team of the TournamentUEFA has announced its 23 member Euro 2008 team of the tournament, and only three members from the Group of Death find a place in it. Dutch duo Wesley Sneijder and Edwin Van der Sar and Italian keeper Gianluigi Buffon are the three in it, with no French or Romanian players finding a mention in it. Sneijder was Man of the Match against both Italy and France. Van der Sar, who shares the record for most European Championship appearances with Lilian Thuram, retired from football following the Netherlands' exit at the hands of Russia.
Spain dominate the Team of the Tournament, with as many as nine members of La Furia Roja finding a place in it. Out of the team that started for the final, only Sergio Ramos, David Silva and Joan Capdevila did not make it. For their opponents in the final- Germany, Philipp Lahm, Michael Ballack and Lukas Podolski figure in the list. Xavi was also named Player of the Tournament, while David Villa ended up as the top scorer with four goals.
