Turner Reaches England StandardHull City centre-back Michael Turner is producing international form at club level according to Tigers boss Phil brown. ![]() It is over a century since the Humberside club fielded a current England international. Yet Fabio Capello has kept a close eye on the 25 year-old and it was only at the last minute that his involvement in England’s friendly in Spain wasn’t required. “We got a phone call from Gary Lewin at 6pm on Saturday evening to say that Michael would not be required” said Brown “but just to be in the thoughts of the England set-up is massively encouraging. Fingers crossed, Michael will continue to show the form he has done all season and who knows?" With strong competition from the likes of Ferdinand, Terry, Upson and Woodgate, to be considered for international duty at all is high praise. Brown also revealed that he has discussed Turner’s form with the England coaching staff and is confident that it will be sooner rather than later that performances such as that at Stamford Bridge last week result in the highest honour for his player.
