Tugay signs new Blackburn dealBlackburn veteran Kerimoglu Tugay has extended his stay at Ewood Park by another twelve months after putting pen to paper a one year deal. The thirty seven year old Turkish midfielder joined Blackburn from Rangers in 2001 for 1.3 million pounds, and has since then made over 250 appearances for the club.
Despite his age, Tugay continues to be one of the driving forces of a Blackburn midfield that also consists of Morten Gamst Pedersen and David Bentley. His October 2007 strike against Reading won him the Peter White Memorial Trophy, given to the scorer of the club's goal of the season.
Tugay's contract extension follows those of Martin Olsson, Matt Derbyshire and Stephen Warnock, all of whom are contracted to the Lancashire club till 2012. It makes him the oldest outfield player in the Premiership. Tugay is expected to be paid depending on the number of games he plays. The deal also reportedly allows for him to move into coaching.
Rovers, who finished seventh in the Premier League, have also been linked in the press with moves for Anthony Annan and Hossam Ghaly. Tags: Blackburn, Kerimoglu Tugay, Premiership, Premier League Posted: |
