Roma striker Francesco Totti will have to have surgery on his injured knee and is in danger of missing the start of next season’s Serie A campaign.

Totti has been out of action for a number of weeks, and missed Roma’s Champions League ties against Manchester United. He will now miss the rest of the Serie A season due to the extent of the injury.

Roma are just three points behind Inter Milan in the Serie A table, with Inter being top of the league. The news of Totti’s injury will no doubt be a blow to Totti’s team-mates in their bid to win the Serie A title.

Totti is disappointed about the injury but is confident that once he gets back into action he will be a better player.

The Roma physio Mario Brozzi said that Totti could be out for up to 4 months, which would see him miss the start of the Serie A season.
