Tottenham 1-1 Blackburn
Tottenham and Blacburn battled it out but the clubs
in contention at the top half of the English Premier League table could
only claim a point each. Spurs draw boosted their hopes for automatic
qualification to the UEFA Cup while the draw effectively ended Blackburn’s
chances for the same progression. It was 32 minutes before Blackburn Rovers
took the lead when Benni McCarthy scored a header. However, Jermain Defoe
tapped in an equalizer for Spurs. Both sides went into the game with UEFA Cup
ambitions and one left disappointed.
