Tottenham complete Bent dealTottenham Hotspurs are set to complete a deal which has been long drawn out for Charlton and England striker Darren Bent. Much controversy has surrounded the deal as the transfer fee continued to rise for the 23 year old up to a whopping £17 million. After the transfer of Henry to Barcelona of £16.5m discussion has surrounded the deal and whether Bent is worth the inflated price tag. The inflated price tag may have come into force as West Ham also battled for the young star. They had a £13m bid turned down earlier in the week but a compromise with Spurs was understood to have been reached late last week. In addition to West Ham, Liverpool were also interested in the striker but instead turned to their long term target Fernando Torres for a better deal. The new signing may pave the way for an exit for Jermain Defoe from the club. The 24 year old has been lined with a number of clubs including Premiership contenders Manchester United and Aston Villa. Whatever the outcome it seems to be an expensive reshuffle at White Hart Lane.Tags: Tottenham Hotspurs, Charlton, Darren Bent, Jermain Defoe Posted: |
