Tottenham v Arsenal

This London Derby was not a game to forget for a long time. Arsenal will be wondering how they didn’t get all three points while Tottenham will be happy to steal a point in the dying minutes. A 95th minute equalizer could prove costly for Arsenal having potentially lost their claim to a Champions League spot.

Arsenal thought they had taken the lead in the 14th minute when Adebayor rifled home, but Freddie Ljungberg had been judged offside when producing a clever back heel to steer the ball to the striker. It took until the 30th minute when a set piece led to Dawson heading the ball down for Keane to nod the ball past Lehman. In the second half Arsenal were inches away from drawing level when Toure leapt to meet a Fabregas corner and saw his fine header cannon off the post. However after Arsenal’s pressure which saw the woodwork save Spurs on 3 occasions, in the 64th minute Toure leveled from a Fabregas free kick. Arsenal’s set pieces were working a treat and on 78th minute Adebayor was onto Fabregas free kick to send Arsenal 2-1 up. It did look like Arsenal would win until late in injury time the 95th minute to be precise when Tottenham struck with Jermaine Jenas to make the final score 2-2. Man of the Match Gilberto.

Arsenal will be very disappointed that the slipped up so late in the day. The draw hurts them badly as they slip back to 4th and fall further behind. It will be hard to claim an elusive Champions League placing. Tottenham will be happy with the draw with a never say die attitude. It means that they are very much in the fight for European placing and it continues their unbeaten run of results.
