Sam Allardyce and Newcastle United are still trying to buy Joey Barton from Manchester City. It is understood that discussion surrounding the finance details are still underway. The Magpies have reportedly offered a staged payment deal for the controversial midfielder and after the sale of Scott Parker to West Ham is sorely needed on Tyneside.

Joey Barton’s days at City were effectively ended following his training ground bust up with team-mate Ousmane Dabo. The incident which led to hospital treatment and later legal action was reported online with Free Football TV. The 26 year old is said to be interested in a move to Tyneside but is also being watched by a number of big clubs.
