Everton manager  was disappointed with the result as his team lost the Merseyside derby in an ill-tempered affair at Anfield.

A Dirk Kuyt strike left the Blue side of Merseyside blue and both teams finish with ten men after Steven Pienaar joined Sotirios Kyrgiakos for an early bath, metaphorically-speaking, after seeing late on. “We didn't play badly and didn't deserve to lose the game, so that is disappointing," said Moyes, "There were no real problems with the performance. It can be more difficult against ten men and I knew if Liverpool got a goal it would be difficult. They were always going to sit back, so it was key for us not to lose a goal.”                                      

The Scot is taking a lot of positives from the game and still believes that his side have sufficient quality to match their neighbours in terms of where they can finish in the Premier League. “It's not hard to see the bigger picture," he said, "I thought the players played well and we've lost to a set piece. There's very little difference between us and Liverpool in terms of what's being shown on the field just now.”

Marouane Fellaini has undergone further scans on his ankle injury, sustained in the ‘strong’ tackle that earned the Liverpool player his dismissal. No broken bones have been found but the level of injury is still not fully known.
