Tim Borowski, Germany

Having played for Werder Bremen his entire career, Tim Borowski felt the time was ready for a new challenge so has decided to sign for Bayern Munich for the start of the coming 2008/2009 season. He had a very impressive last World Cup when Germany managed to finish third, replacing Michael Ballack during the inaugural game of the finals and Torsten Frings in the semis, but since then has been out more than he has been in the team under Joachim Löw, starting only in game in the Euro 2008 qualifiers; that against Wales in a 0-0 draw.

Borowski was born in the former East Germany but attended Bremen's academy and eventually made his league debut in 2001/2002. The following season he made his international bow in a 2-2 friendly against Bulgaria before scoring twice on his European debut for Bremen in the UEFA cup against Metalurg Donetsk in an 8-0 drubbing.

When Bremen managed to do the domestic double in 2003/2004 he only made twelve starts in the league, but he performed heroics in the cup final when he scored a brace in the 3-2 win against Alemannia Aachen of the second division.

This subsequently cemented his place in the team and he became a regular in all competitions. While injury fragmented his season in 2007/2008, he recovered in time to help Bremen finish in second place in the league.
