Three Agree New Deals At Old Trafford
Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson has revealed that defenders Rio Ferdinand and Wes Brown along with midfielder Michael Carrick have all agreed new deals at the club. Ferguson found the news out this morning when he was told by chief executive of the club David Gill. The lengths of the three contracts have yet to be exposed. Ferguson, speaking before Man Utd’s weekend game with Blackburn said that all three have agreed new deals and that he was delighted with the news. As well as confirming the news about the three new deals Ferguson did hint that he may bring in some new faces before the start of next season. He said that there may be some new arrivals over the summer but we have a strong squad as it is so there is no pressure to keep adding to it. No lengths of the contracts were disclosed but as reported earlier in the week Ferdinand was expected to sign a five year deal worth £130,000 a week. The same length of deal was expected to be given to Brown and Carrick. Wes Brown was out of contract this summer but Ferdinand had a further two years on his deal. Brown has played a big role in the Manchester United side this season. He stepped in for the injured Gary Neville and was attracting the attention of Newcastle in January. Ferguson was glad to have finally tied Wes Brown’s contract up. He said Wes Brown is a Manchester United player and there is no other club right for him. Michael Carrick has also played a major role this season for Man Utd. He only moved to United in June 2006 from Tottenham but Man Utd were keen to add to his existing deal as they see him as a key player.
