Tevez agent sees closure

The agent of Carlos Tevez has hinted that the transfer wrangle surrounding the player may be settled out of court. Whilst any deal has been bogged down with problems starting legal proceedings would hinder any transfer for months. Joorabchian currently claims economic rights to the player but the Premier League states that West Ham should benefit from any transfer for Tevez.

The transfer for Tevez to Manchester United is reported to be worth £30 milion. The problem is it has yet to be decided who the fee would go to. Joorabchian's companies have issued a high court writ against West Ham.

In Tevez’s homeland Argentina and throughout South America third party ownership of players is commonplace. However, until the Tevez controversy such deals were unheard of in the English Premier League. When the deal in the UK hit snags the parties turned to FIFA for direction. FIFA have now in turn passed the buck to the CAS or Court of Arbitration for Sport.

The transfer window ends on 31st August and it looks unlikely that any deal will be struck before that time. West Ham were fined £5.5m pounds back in April for breaking Premier League policies over third party ownership with Tevez and Mascherano. Tevez was only allowed to continue playing once West Ham convinced the Premier League that the agreement had been nullified.
