It’s not doing the World Cup a disservice to say it got off to a mundane start – but we were hoping the first fixture in the group of death would be the clash to set the tournament alight.

 

Alas it turned out to be an anti-climax, but it’s a big concern for Portugal to have their star player sulk rather than inspire when his side badly needed it.

Apart from hitting the post from long-range, the Real Madrid winger showed his infuriating side that does little to help his teammates, and everything to annoy the watching public.

Maybe he needs top get over the fact that Lionel Messi is better than him, but it’s the World Cup and Cristiano Ronaldo needs to wake up and realise this because any more of his childish behaviour and Portugal will be the ones to miss out.
