Striker Could Miss Rest of the Season

James VaughanJames Vaughan could miss the rest of Everton’s Premier League campaign after he flew to America to have surgery on his knee.

Dr Richard Steadman, a well known surgeon around the world will be operating on Vaughan. The young 19 year old striker picked up the knee injury during a training session.

He has also had an injury similar to this a few years ago. In 2005 he was out for almost a year with an injury on the same knee. Since becoming the youngest player to score for Everton in 2005 Vaughan has been plagued by injuries. He missed the beginning of this season due to dislocating his shoulder during pre-season and missed parts of last season with an injury to his foot.

So far this season Vaughan has made 1 start and 12 substitute appearances. Everton manager David Moyes has described this current injury as a disappointment for both the player and the club. He hopes that Vaughan will be ready to start next season, which is why they decided to send him now rather than wait until the end of the season.
