Star Confident Arsenal Can Deliver

Robin van Persie firmly believes that Arsenal’s young squad has got what it takes to win trophies - and that they could still win one this season.

The 25 year-old who was signed from Feyenoord four years ago thinks that the philosophy of playing football the Wenger Way has buried the old ’one-nil to the Arsenal’ tag and has turned the Gunners into a respected team who play attractive football. However, recent criticism from both inside and outside The Emirates has stung the loyalists and with injuries keeping Theo Walcott and Cesc Fabregas out for long periods, the need for unity within the ranks is greater than ever.

Form has improved and Arsene Wenger’s team are now unbeaten in 7 league games although a place in the top four still eludes them. Yet he will undoubtedly try to strengthen his squad before the January transfer window ends with the Russian Andrei Arshavin, the Zenit St Petersburg playmaker, reportedly now the subject of a £12M offer. The 27 year-old is keen to ply his trade outside his home nation and the Premiership may well offer an attractive alternative.
