Harry Redknapp has added to Tottenham Hotspurs transfer window squad enhancement by signing Pascal Chimbonda from Sunderland and goalkeeper Carlo Cudicini on a free from London rivals Chelsea.

 

Frenchman Chimbonda rejoins the White Hart Lane club after failing to settle in the North East whilst Cudicini moves across the capital after 10 years at Stamford Bridge. Both signings give Redknapp cover in vital positions with 29 year-old Chimbonda able to operate across the defensive line. Cudicini will give Heurelho Gomes some strong competition for the keepers jersey following the departure of Ceasr Sanchez.

Chelsea issued a brief statement of confirmation adding gratitude to Cudicini for this service to the Blues.

One player on his way out of North London is Egyptian midfielder Hossam Ghaly. The 27 year-old has not represented Spurs since throwing away his shirt in disgust at being substituted in May 2007 and received a hostile reception from fans recently. He will join Saudi Arabian side Nassr Saudi Club.
