Spain’s injury woes continueSpain’s preparations for the upcoming European Championships in Austria and Switzerland have suffered a major blow due to injuries to three of their strikers. Fernando Torres, David Villa, and Sergio Garcia all suffered knocks in the last training session before Spain’s final friendly before Euro 2008 against USA at Santander.
The news is a huge blow to the Spanish team, whose strike force is easily among the best in the world and worse, Euro 2008 is just a few days away. David Villa, who plies his trade at Valencia F.C, suffered a knock on his right thigh and is not expected to feature in the friendly against the USA. The striker needs to undergo further tests, before the full extent of the injury can be determined.
Meanwhile, both Fernando Torres and Sergio Garcia suffered blows to the ankle during training and have raised unrest in the camp. This triple–injury news comes in, following midfielder Andres Iniesta’s problem of Gastroenteritis. Should Luis Aragones have left out the prolific Raul Gonzalez after all?
