After Middlesbrough defender Robert Huth missed the 1-0 win over Derby on Saturday manager Gareth Southgate hopes that he will have the big defender back in the side for their next match.

Huth has had his injury problems since moving to Boro from Chelsea but has established himself as a key defensive figure for Middlesbrough.

Southgate has praised Huth by saying that when he plays the team play better and has admitted he wants him back fit again as soon as possible. He also revealed his frustration at losing Huth through injury.

However, Southgate was quick to praise the Boro defenders who have played in Huth’s absence and called them ‘terrific’.

Southgate was pleased with the win at Derby on Saturday but said that some of his players picked up knocks.

He said that Lee Cattermole was playing injured for the last ten minutes of the game. He said the spirit within the team is fantastic and everyone dug in to get the points against Derby.
