Smith Swaps United's

Former Leeds striker and England international Alan Smith has transferred to Newcastle from his current club Manchester United. The fee is supposed to be around 6 million pounds. Alan Smith was a promising striker from his Leeds days. But at United he was terribly unfortunate with injuries. He was converted as a midfielder by Sir Alex, a position he could never settle into.

Smith has signed a five-year deal at Tyneside and made his decision to leave United when he was not offered a new contract. Sam Allardyce is quite famous for signing strong, physical players and Alan Smith is a born fighter. He now rejoins his former Leeds strike partner Mark Viduka.  After the capture of Smith, Newcastle United are targeting left-back Leighton Baines from Wigan.
