Fresh from dumping Guus Hiddink’s Russia out of the play-off’s, Slovenia coach Matjaz Kek set about planning the downfall of Group C opponents England by making an initial cut in his pre-tournament squad. Four players – Miran Burgic, Dare Vrsic, Aleksandar and Jan Koprivec – have been dropped from the original squad of 30.    

Former West Bromwich Albion payer Robert Koren should captain the squad as they prepare for their friendly against New Zealand before starting their World Cup campaign against Algeria. Rene Krhin will also expect to retain his place after a successful season with Inter Milan.
