Slovakia went from being one of the worst teams in the World Cup to a side worthy of a place in the last 16 in the space of 90 magical minutes against the Italians.

Of course Italy were atrocious, but there was nothing in Slovakia’s games against New Zealand and Paraguay to suggest they were capable of throwing the form book out the window and producing the performance they did.

Suddenly players like Robert Vittek and Marek Hamsik came alive and showed their potential. But the Slovaks need a repeat performance to survive against a Dutch side who boast a 100% record.
