Slovak Quartet Recover In Time

Liverpool defender Martin Skrtel has made it into Slovakia’s final 23-man squad for the World Cup finals after recovering from a broken metatarsal.

Skrtel was a doubt for the tournament after sustaining the injury in February but he came through a recent friendly against Denmark unscathed.

Captain Martin Hamsik, Filip Holosko and Robert Vittek were also injury doubts but they have recovered sufficiently to be named in the squad by coach Vladimir Weiss.

But the team’s most experienced player, Mainz midfielder Miroslav Karhan, will miss the finals due to an Achilles injury.
