Thaksin Shinawatra buys City.

Former Thailand Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra tabled a bid of 81.6 million pounds to buy out English Premier League outfit Manchester City. The Eastlands outfit finished a meagre 14th last year and sacked manager Stauart Pearce soon after. City have also lost the services of Joey Barton and Sylvain Distin who joined Newcastle and Portsmouth respectively.

Shinawatra previously tried buying Liverpool but was unsuccessful with the Anfield club. All is not well at Manchester City though. City are the only Premier League side without a manager. The hunt for City’s boss has intensified after Thaksin’s bid. Former England manager Sven-Goran Erikksson is the favourite to land the job. Sevilla manager Juande Ramos and Celtic gaffer Gordon Strachan are also in the fray. Shinawatra has promised a transfer kitty of about 50 million pounds to resurrect City’s dwindling fortunes.
