Chelsea are looking for a new manager following the sacking of Luis Felipe Scolari

 

A string of disappointing results had left the Blues in fourth place in the Premiership, seven points behind leaders Manchester United. Recent performances have produced adverse reactions from the terraces and the goalless draw at Stamford Bridge against Hull City was clearly a game too far for owner Roman Abramovich.

The Russian billionaire has not suffered fools gladly in the success stakes and the Brazilian followed Avram Grant and the Tinkerman Claudio Ranieri through the Stamford Bridge exit after failing to produce the goods on too many occasions.

Having dropped a massive 16 points at home so far this season, a club statement said. "Unfortunately, the results and performances of the team appeared to be deteriorating at a key time in the season. In order to maintain a challenge for the trophies we are still competing for we felt the only option was to make the change now."

Scolari’s assistant Ray Wilkins takes charge until a replacement is found.
